Dr Mecide Gharibo, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Department of Medical Oncology and member of the Hematologic Malignancy Group at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, The State University of New Jersey. She joined Rutgers CINJ in 2004 after completion of her fellowship to develop the Myeloma program. Dr. Gharibo is an experienced clinical researcher whose primary interests include clinical trials in hematologic malignancies and has participated in many national and international clinical trials in this area. She has a special interest in plasma cell disorders with a particular focus in translational studies both as phase I/II studies with early novel drug development as well as stem cell transplantation and immunology. As a patient advocate, she believes in a team approach to the care that she provides patients to help patients and their families with their diagnosis and treatments with a strong focus in education. She participates in the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship to help educate future oncologists. She is an author and co-author on several publications and an ad hoc reviewer for several journals.
